This morning we visit the famous ‘Old Iron Lady’ – the symbol of Paris, built by architect Gustave Eiffel for The World Exhibition in 1889 to celebrate the French Revolutions of 1789. We take the elevator to the 2nd floor with our guide (the Eiffel Tower has three levels)  to admire the magnificent view of Paris. Wow.  (Our tickets are pre- purchased to hopefully avoid long queues)  We then take a short drive to the Notre Dame Cathedral with a private guided visit of this Gothic masterpiece – one of the most important in Europe. It is just across the way from the Louvre Museum in the gardens of Palais Royal with the black and white marble Buren columns, it is a haven of peace and tranquillity within the bustling city centre of Paris. The gardens are enclosed within a square of historical buildings with similar façades containing arcades with terrace cafes, restaurants and antique shops. The Palais Royal is now home to government institutions such as the Minister of Culture.  This afternoon is at your leisure. Optional excursions are available or possible you may wish to return to the Louvre Museum to continue visit on your own. The immense Palace of Versailles was constructed in the 17th century with it’s ‘Le Nôtre’ signature gardens that are classed as a World heritage UNESCO monument. His home has been restored as a museum while still keeping all the furniture and objects he lived with to guard its authenticity. Monet’s passion for gardening led to the creation of two gardens.  The Clos Normand, a 1 hectare orchard in front of his house brimming with a wide variety of flowers and the other the Japanese Water Garden filled with weeping willows, small bridges over the pond and the world famous water lilies (nymphéas).  The visit starts with a guided walking tour of the two gardens (Clos Normand and the Japanese Water garden) which served as the inspiration and background for many of Monet’s paintings, we also tour Monet’s house and studio, it’s fascinating.  Afterwards we visit a quaint restaurant for lunch before we return to our hotel.
