Climate & Clothing:
In summer the weather in France is mild to warm, the temperature average between June and July is about 78°F - 26°C. Summers are relatively dry, but rain does occur all year round. The general rule is to bring comfortable clothing including lightweight cottons. Comfortable walking shoes are essential as is a light waterproof jacket.
Currency & Money Matters:
The official currency in France is EURO (€). On January 1, 2002, the Euro became the official currency for 300 million Europeans, in use in 12 countries of the European Union. ATMs are widely available in major cities and tourist areas.
The electrical current in France is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. The European two-pin plug is standard.
You must obtain Comprehensive Travel Insurance as a condition of travelling with Boutique Tours & Travel. We recommend that you purchase insurance at the time of Booking.
French is the official language, but English is widely understood in the main tourist areas.
Our hotels offer a wonderful selection of dishes at their buffet breakfasts with a wide variety of both menu and venue for lunches and evening meals.
Medical Services & Facilities:
Our hotels have access to a doctor if required. They can also assist guests with purchasing of medicine. The international hospitals in France are very good and have western trained medical and surgical specialists. Dental care is also available.
Passports & Visas:
To enter France you require a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry and with at least two blank pages. No visa is required for tourists.
Pre & Post Tour Accommodation:
Boutique Tours & Travel suggests that you may like to arrive a day before the start of your tour to allow time to relax and refresh. You are also very welcome to linger longer after the tour is completed.

Day 1: Paris - Loire: (D)
Bonjour and welcome to Paris. A sophisticated city full of amazing sights, spectacular shopping and world-famous food. This afternoon you will be met in Paris by your BT&T tour director and drive to the region of La Loire to your hotel. The magnificent Château de Chenonceau. It is also known as the ‘Château des dames’ (Ladies Castle) since it was built, further embellished and saved from the French revolution by notorious French noble women. The castle was built in 1513 on the river Cher, which provides the perfect setting for a water reflection of the beautiful architecture of this French Renaissance masterpiece. Chenonceau is additionally recognised for its remarkable interiors with magnificent renaissance furniture, tapestries and celebrated paintings. Dinner this evening is at the hotel.
Day 2: Château de Chenonceau, Tours and Sound and Light Show: (B/L/D)
After breakfast we have a short drive to Chateau Chenonceau. A guided visit of the castle is followed by free time to stroll in the lovely gardens and surroundings. Lunch will be in the grounds of the castle. After, we continue our guided visit of this historical town of Tours. We return to our hotel to relax before dinner. Dinner this evening is at a restaurant in Blois. This will be followed by a short walk to the Château de Blois for a sound and light show. We return to our hotel later this evening after the show.
Day 3: Ballooning over castles, vineyards and forests and Chambord: (B/L/D)
Early morning, just before sunrise, for those who wish to join us, we transfer to the take our off site for a magical view of the La Loire region from the sky. Drifting slowly with the wind in a hot air balloon over the majestic castles and the Loire regions vineyards; it is an unforgettable moment. (Optional) We return to the hotel around 11am and and relax before lunch. For those who choose to remain enjoy the beutiful surrounds of our hotel or relax by the pool. On our way to Château de Chambord we stop for lunch at a delightful Michelin 1 star restaurant. On arrival at Château de Chambord we have a private guided tour of the castle with free time to wander around to take photos and soak up the ambiance of the renaissance period. Château de Chambord is the largest and most extravagant renaissance castle of the La Loire region. It was built on hunting grounds for King Francois I in the 16th century and it is renowned for its coffered vaults, the spectacular views from the castles terraces and its double spiral staircases conceived by Leonardo da Vinci, where two people can climb up simultaneously without ever meeting, however can see each other via the holes in the staircases. Dinner this evening is at the hotel.
Day 4: Loire – Bayeux: (B/L)
This morning we drive to Bayeux and drop off our bags at the hotel before our early lunch. Following lunch we have a guided tour of the historic old city of Bayeux, visiting the cathedral and Bayeux's world renowned tapestry museum. We return and check in to our hotel with time to relax this evening.
Day 5: Bayeux - D-Day Beaches - Mont Saint Michel - Cancale: (B/L/D)
This morning after checking out of the hotel we depart for our private guided tour of the British and Commonwealth WW2 cemetery in Bayeux where Australian soldiers are buried. We then drive to the D-day landing beaches of ‘Gold Beach’ and ‘Omaha Beach’, the remains of the Mulberry artificial landing harbour at Arromanches and the canons of Longue-Sur-Mer. Lunch will be at the gastronomic restaurant. After lunch we drive to Mont Saint Michel (2 hours) for a visit of the most famous and amazing Abbey of Mont Saint Michel and discover the crypts, chapels and magnificent arches. This is a World Heritage Listed site and is the second most visited site in France after the Eiffel tower in Paris. This extraordinary abbey, constructed between 10th – 16th century it is surrounded by a medieval town of the same name. It is isolated in the middle of an immense bay which has some of the largest tides in Europe. Here you have time free to walk through the medieval village or along the ramparts for a fantastic view of the magnificent bay. We then continue our drive to your lovely seaside town of Cancale. Our Relais & Château hotel is situated on seaside front of the bay of Cancale. We check-in to our hotel and relax before dinner at the restaurant of this hotel which is famous for its seafood dishes.
Day 6: Cancale – St Malo - Paris: (B/L)
This morning after we check out of our hotel we visit the fishing Co- op for a special treat. We then have a short drive to St Malo where we will have a guided visit of the old walled town, its cathedral, castle, ramparts, gates, handsome courtyards and grand houses; whose history evokes the tales of piracy byfamous sailors. After lunch we return to Paris and transfer you to your hotel.
Our small group tour concludes on arrival into Paris.
