Day 1:    Arrive Delhi:  

Welcome to Delhi; India’s most vibrant city. You will be met by your tour director and chauffeured to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have free time to explore Delhi. Your tour director and Chauffeur is available and able to offer you a number of options including shopping and or dining.  And your complimentary local mobile phone allows us to be phone call away.


Day 2:    Delhi:  (B)

This morning tour both the chaotic Old Delhi and the New Delhi. Explore some of old Delhi’s dense network of homes, markets, mosques and alleyways. Walk into Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in Asia. Visit Chandni Chowk by rickshaw and walk the bazaar area and visit the local spice market. Later we drive by the Red Fort a powerful symbol of the Mughal Empire and walk the grounds of the Raj Ghat, the simple but very moving memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Drive Sir Edwin Lutyen’s New Delhi, inaugurated in 1931 and home to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the Indian President.  Note the imposing India Gate (War Memorial Arch) and Parliament buildings. Visit two of the city’s most significant World Heritage Sites, Qutab Minar, a masterpiece of perfect proportions, and the tomb of Emperor Humayun. Later return to your hotel.


Day 3:     Delhi – Agra:  (B)

After a very early breakfast drive to Agra stopping en-route at Sikandra, the impressive tomb of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. From Sikandra it is a short drive to Agra. On arrival, tour the vast Agra Fort, it was established by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565. It has breathtaking views of the River Yamuna.  Agra is well known for its major handicraft products including Zari embroidery work, Brassware, Carpets, Jewellery and inlay work on Leather-ware. It also well known for its sweets ’Petha’ and ’Gajak’ and saltish snack ’Dalmoth. Later this afternoon we visit the magnificent architectural masterpiece that is the Taj Mahal. Explore the beautiful buildings and gardens overlooking the serene Yamuna River. The Taj is arguably one of the greatest monuments built dedicated to love. Built by Shah Jahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz a building world renowned for its power and beauty. The craftsmanship is outstanding with semi-precious stones inlaid into the marble in beautiful patterns, a process known as pietra dura whilst the white marble reflects every change in light allowing the Taj to appear to change its hue according to the light and time of day.


Day 4:     Agra – Jaipur:  (B)

This morning rise early for one last glimpse of the Taj Mahal, with the  golden rays of morning sun baths this magnificent monument. Proceed to Jaipur stopping en-route at the magnificent Fatehpur Sikri, the one-time red sandstone capital of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Drive to the village of Abhaneri and visit the magnificent Chand Baori Step Well, one of the biggest and best preserved in India.

Continue onto Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’ the state capital of Rajasthan. Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II, Jaipur is a highly distinctive and colourful planned city characterised by fine bazaars, intricately carved palaces, havelis and powerful forts. It is famous for its handicrafts and precious and semiprecious stones. It is now also famous as it was featured in both the Exotic Marigold Hotel movies.


Day 5:      Jaipur:  (B/D)

A guided tour through the old city to explore the colourful markets and bazaars including the incredible Hawa, Palace of the Wind. It is a remarkable five storied building along the main street of the old city with semi-octagonal and delicate honey-combed pink sandstone windows. Visit the City Palace Complex located in the heart of Jaipur, with its various museums where you can see a beautiful collection of Mughal costumes, weapons and miniature paintings.

Later in the evening enjoy cooking demonstration followed by Dinner with Rajasthani Family.


Day 6:     Jaipur:  (B)

Early morning excursion to Amber Fort. Drive through the rugged hills that surround Jaipur city to visit the magnificent Amber Fort, a beautiful palace with ornate mosaics, coloured stone inlays, intricately painted murals, palaces, temples and cooling courtyard watercourses. Take an elephant ride on the ramparts. In the evening enjoy a visit to local markets.


Day 7:     Jaipur – Delhi (Airport / Hotel):    (B)

This morning, return to Delhi. The rest of the day at leisure

Day 8:   Depart Delhi:  (B)

Transfer to the airport for your onward or homebound journey
