Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Perth to Margaret River: (L)
Busselton Meelup Bay, Cape Naturaliste Canal Rocks
On your way to the Margaret River region, take a break for a refreshing tea/coffee at Bunbury. Visit the Busselton Jetty that is the longest wood pylon jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and juts two kilometres out into Geographe Bay. Take a walk along this awesome structure.
Continue driving into the Margaret River region and explore the scenic coastline and pastoral views. Take a walk along Meelup Beach with beautiful white sands and clear aquamarine water. In season you can see Whales breaching out in Geographe Bay.
Margaret River region is internationally renowned for its quality wine production and fabulous food. Enjoy lunch at Eagle Bay Brewing Co. with expansive views of farmland to Bunker Bay.
After lunch visit, Cape Naturalise to enjoy walk on the Cape to Cape Trail to Sugar Loaf Rock. Sugar Loaf Rock is a gigantic rock a short distance from the coast. The views along this easy trail are spectacular.
Visit Yallingup Gallery which exhibits a diverse range of fine art, furniture and design of recognised Australian Artists. A short distance away is Canal Rocks, where you see the awesome Indian Ocean surging through the weathered canals and spot seals lazing on the rocks in the sunshine. Continue south along picturesque Caves Road renowned in the Margaret River region for premier wines and scenic countryside to Margaret River township your two-night stay.
Day 2: Margaret River Region: (B/L)
A Taste of Margaret River Wine Tour includes Brown Hill Estate, Howard Park and Vasse Felix.
Todays excursion begins with a visit to The Hairy Marron – Mountain Bike Café and take a walk along the Margaret River. You will sample not only the region’s best cuisine but talk to the wine makers and qualified wine experts of the winery’s we visit.
First stop at Brown Hill Estate a family owned and operated vineyard established in 1995. It is a joint partnership with Jim, Gwen and their son Nathan Bailey who is this winery’s winemaker and his wife Chiara.
Enjoy an inspection of the barrel room with the wine maker and then return into the winery to taste wine and hear the story of the making of the wine. Brown Hill produce multi award winning wine. Their stated aim is to produce top-quality wines with uncompromising viticulture practices emphasising low yields.
At Howard Park private specialised flight tasting of their Icon Wines. Owners, the Burch family are member of Australia’s First Families of Wine (AFFW) and is the largest family own wine operation in Western Australia.
The Burch’s were one of the earliest to embrace multi-regional fruit sourcing from the cool-climate Great Southern wine region and the world-renowned Margaret River culminating in excellent elegant wines.
Lunch highlighting modern Australia style cuisine is at Margaret Rivers founding wine estate Vasse Felix. This year (2020) awarded Star Winery by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine.
Vasse Felix was established in 1967 by Dr Tom Cullity. Today Paul Holmes à Court represents the second generation of the Family who have owned and operated Vasse Felix since 1987. After lunch take a browse in the Art Gallery which has exhibitions of the renowned Janet Holmes à Court art collection.
To complete a fabulous day that included indulging in outstanding wines and food visit The Margaret River Chocolate Company. Chocolate is one of life’s perfect indulgences and essential luxuries. There are over 200 handmade premium chocolate products to choose from.
Return to your accommodation to relax or time permitting visit the shops.
Day 3: Margaret River to Perth: (B/L)
Boranup Karri Forest, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, Xanadu Wines Perth
Visit Blue Ginger Fine Foods & Café. Home to perhaps the most diverse collection of local and international foods and ingredients in Margaret River. Catering to the whims of food loving customers.
Later, drive out to the spectacular coast to Surfers Point. Spot Whales in season and surfers catching waves before going to work.
Drive through the Boranup Karri Forest on the dirt trail. Boranup Drive a fantastic soft adventure drive through towering karri trees, some over 70m in height, with sunlight streaming onto their smooth bright trunks. Maybe spot emus or kangaroos and many colourful birds. At pretty Hamelin Bay paddle with Stingrays that come right up to the beach edge to say hello.
Continue to Augusta overlooking the Blackwood River and Flinders Bay and to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse to join a tour of the lighthouse tower and see the convergence of the Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean.
Lunch today is at the elegant Xanadu Wines restaurant which is undoubtedly one of the most stylish wineries in the region. Xanadu Wines offers award-winning wines, tasty fresh local produce to match, and expansive views over the vineyard.
After lunch, return to Perth
