Japan has so many hidden gems to offer and explore, from beautiful cities to remarkable landmarks, there are so many places to visit:

Visiting Tokyo:

Tokyo is one of the worlds largest cities, with skyscrapers, the 'glam' and the 'ritz' and the neon lights contrasting with it's historical shrines and temples. Stroll in the magnificent Imperial Palace Gardens; take a moment to pause at temples and shrines and if you wish, there is also the opportunity to shop till you drop at either the markets or at the high end of town. Visit Nikko, famous for a UNESCO historical shrine that has amazing carvings and metal work incorporated by top artisans of the time.  Find the famed 3 wise men!

Explore Mt. Fuji:

Mt. Fuji. I am sure like us,  you remember seeing a picture of Mt Fujiyama in your childhood, captivating & Iconic. In real life this Holy Mountain is even more magnificent. This area has, even more, to offer, including the Kubuta Itchiku Art Museum where you can enjoy captivating art with MT. Fuji views.

Gassho Zukuri-Farmhouses:

Travel through Japan’s beautiful scenery and explore cities such as Takayama where some traditional ways still exist in this modern world. Mingle with the locals, both the sellers who have travelled with produce from their farms to the locals who are purchasing it. Visit the famous Gassho-Zukuri style farmhouses. A way of life formed over centuries by the extremes of mother nature.

The beauty does not end here as you have the opportunity to explore some of the best Japanese gardens, which have the six essential features that include vastness, symmetry, solemnity, coolness, antiquity and pleasure. Truly magnificent.

Buddhist Temples:

Visit Kyoto, which was once the capital of Japan. It's famous for its numerous classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses. It’s also known for its formal traditions including tea ceremonies, where you can participate and we have moment with a geisha, and an opportunity to perhaps try your style in a beautiful Kimono taking the time to appreciate a more traditional lifestyle.

Travel to Miyajima Island, one of the most scenic spots in Japan. it has long been regarded as an Island of Gods. It is a romantic and historical island where the Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage site is. It has numerous preserved shrines, temples and historical monuments.

Explore Osaka:

Osaka is Japan's second-largest metropolitan area after Tokyo. It has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai Region for many centuries. It's known for its modern architecture, nightlife and hearty street food. Its a city that loves to eat: it's unofficial slogan is kuidaore ('eat until you drop').

Immerse yourself and get involved in true Japanese culture!

  • We could say - any time is the best time. But it depends on what you want to do on your Japan tour.

If you want to see the cherry blossoms in Kyoto, March to May is the ideal time to travel. If you want to see the vibrant autumn colours, September to November.

For good skiing in the north of Japan, the ski season is December to February. An outdoor onsen in winter can also be a riveting experience.

The summer months are great for hiking and outdoor activities, but the summers in Japan can be hot and humid.

  • One of the best ways to get around on a Japan tour is on the Shinkansen. Buy yourself a Japan Rail Pass so you can always get a booked seat on these hyper-fast trains. Cruising the Japanese countryside at 320kms an hour, super smooth, is an experience.

We also recommend you pre-book your tourist attractions before you leave. It can often be impossible to get tickets on the day.

Being organised before you leave helps avoid disappointment.

But the best way to tour Japan is slowly. Don’t rush around. Japan is full of tiny little details and hidden treasures.

  • If it is your first time in Japan, two weeks is a good amount of time. This gives you space in Tokyo, with some opportunities to make some day trips to Mt Fuji or Hiroshima.

For subsequent visits, longer is better. You can focus on the part of Japan you really want to experience and do it slowly. While cities such as Tokyo operate at a hectic pace, the rest of the country is still laid back and serene.

We would say no more than three weeks in Japan. If you can stay for longer, by all means, but it can be expensive being a tourist in Japan. Three weeks can have you seeing many great places at a reasonable pace.

  • The budget needed for a holiday can vary on how much you buy, the costs of accommodation during the high season, and more.

However, if you’re a single traveler on a low budget, 8 000 yen per day would be fair, 16 000 if you’re a couple traveling on a budget.

You can increase that budget how you see fit, to include better eating or accommodation, more shopping, and travel within Japan.

Japan can be an expensive place to visit, so please be aware of that. It is wonderful as well, don’t get us wrong. We just know there are some wonderful souvenirs you can buy and delicious cuisine you can sample, which easily puts a hole in your budget. But then, you are on holiday, so you should treat yourself.
