  • Day 1: Saturday: Arrive Madrid: (D)
    Hola. Welcome to Spain. On arrival you will be met by your private driver and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have free time to explore Madrid.
    Later this afternoon we will rendezvous in our hotel Lobby and meet fellow travellers before departing on our welcome dinner at a lovely local restaurant.
    You may wish to arrive a day earlier to shop or maybe just to get your bearings and recover from any jet lag you may have. If you do choose to arrive early, we can extend your hotel bookings and provide any information or advice you may need in order to make the most of your time and get yourself familiar with the exciting city.

    Day 2: Sunday: Madrid: (B)
    After breakfast meet our guide for a walking tour and discover the most emblematic buildings from the Renaissance and Baroque period of Madrid. Hapsburg style is the name given to Madrid when the Hapsburg dynasty reigned in Spain and the buildings that were built in that time. This reign began with Charles I, who enriched the city with palaces and monuments. Later on, Philip II made it the capital of Spain and the city grew dramatically. The journey through the Renaissance and Baroque style buildings of this era is perhaps one of the most picturesque and representative of Madrid. During the tour, we will stop at one of the most emblematic Cafés of this popular area of Madrid. The Royal Palace was built in the XVIII century upon the ancient Baroque Italian style fortress of the Hapsburg. It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved palaces in Europe and a symbol of the permanence and consolidation of Madrid as the capital of the Kingdom. The Palace was the official residence of the Spanish Monarchy from 1765 to 1931. To date, the most stunning receptions of the Spanish Crown are celebrated here: audiences, dinner parties, signature of agreements and the traditional ceremony of presentation of Credential Letters from foreign ambassadors to His Majesty the King. Free afternoon for personal activities.

    Day 3: Monday: Madrid – Toledo – Madrid: (B)
    This morning travel by high-speed train (approx. 30 mins) to Toledo, the ‘City of the Three Cultures’. On our private half-day tour we Delve into a captivating rich history of Toledo, once the illustrious capital of the Spanish Empire. Be in in awe at Toledo's remarkable vistas overlooking the serene River Tagus as we explore Toledo's historic heart, where you'll step into the past. Marvel at the picturesque City Hall Square, and stand in reverence before the awe-inspiring facade of the Primate Cathedral, the former Palace of Justice, and the City Hall itself. We continue through the winding alleys of the old Jewish quarter and traverse narrow streets that whisper tales of times gone by. Here, we discover the Church of St. Tomé, home to El Greco's celebrated masterpiece, "The Burial of Count Orgaz." A visit to the ancient Synagogue of Ste. Maria la Blanca which remain as a symbol of the coexistence of the Three Cultures. Following the tour tour enjoy some leisurely free time to explore Toledo at your own pace, we'll reconvene and return to Madrid via the convenient train service.

    Day 4: Tuesday: Madrid – Cordoba – Granada: (B)
    This morning depart Madrid and travel by high speed train to Córdoba. (About 2 hours) Enjoy an inspiring private walking tour with your expert local guide and explore Cordoba, a city with an impressive cultural and monumental patrimony. Cordoba´s strategic position, near the River Guadalquivir and the legacy of the different peoples who settled on its rich farming lands meant that Cordoba was always considered a privileged place. Not many places in the world can say they have been the capital of Hispania Ulterior (Further Spain) under the Roman Empire, and capital of the Umayyad Caliphate.
    The UNESCO organization recognized the universal importance of Cordoba´s historic legacy and extended the title of World Heritage Site not only to the amazing Mosque-Cathedral, but also to all the streets and buildings around it. Explore the delightful flower-lined streets of the Jewish Quarter discovering the main sights like the Medieval Synagogue, the Castle of the Christian Monarchs and the fabulous unique Mosque-Cathedral, one of the most amazing buildings in the world in its own right. After the visit, your private driver will transfer us from Cordoba to our hotel in Granada. (about 2 hrs) Check in at the hotel. Free evening at your leisure.

    Day 5: Wednesday: Granada: (B)
    Enjoy a private tour with an acknowledgeable local guide as you visit the fabulous UNESCO world heritage site of the Alhambra palaces and gardens. On a rocky hill, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and amongst the eldest quarter in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with its distinctive reddish stone in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty enclosed within. The Alhambra ranks among the world´s finest examples of Islamic art with carved cedar-wood, infrequent stucco work, and gorgeous mosaics. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and the court of Granada in the middle of the 13th century. Please note that not large bags are allowed inside. For your own health and safety, respect the rules and instructions during your visit and help preserve this Heritage Monument. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

    Day 6: Thursday: Granada – Seville: (B)
    We travel by high speed train (1 ½ hours approx) to Seville. We check in at the hotel and free day at leisure.

    (*The track from Granada to Seville is under reparation, you will have to change trains in Antequera). (2hrs 45mins approx)

    Later this evening, you will head to El Palacio de Andaluz to witness the most genuine Spanish art: Flamenco. This venue is proud to offer a pure spectacle with no room for anything but art. (We suggest you arrive at least 30 minutes before the show, so that you can enjoy the interesting museum of Flamenco art, and you will understand why this is nowadays cataloged as UNESCO´s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.)     Day 7: Friday: Seville: (B)
    Learn about the city from the Guadalquivir river, put your feet up on a small electric boat and avoid the crowds on the old-fashioned cruises. Most people who come to Seville want to enjoy a cruise on the river but up until now the only possibility has been on old boats with lots of people and standard commentary in various languages. We offer not only total comfort in an intimate environment but your personal guide as well, for very little more than the cost of the normal boats! We begin your day with the Seville Walking Tour at 10.00am, and at 12pm we arrive at the jetty in the center where we board an eco-friendly electric boat, small and very comfortable, the perfect way to finish the walking tour. Sit back, relax and see other fantastic sites from the river, such as the Expo 92 area and the castle of the Spanish Inquisition; you may even see local wildlife as well. Afternoon at leisure - or

    Day 8: Saturday: Seville – Lisbon: (B/Tastings)
    Option:
    • Take a flight that will take you from Seville to Lisbon in less than 1 hour. Transfer to your hotel, check-in and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

    • Or you may wish to drive (4 hrs 30mins – approx.)

    Later this evening meet our guide and enjoy a captivating evening stroll in search of some of the popular tastes of the city and some hidden gems. Hear about the historic and social background as we traverse its streets. In Lisbon taste and smell the warm notes of cinnamon, sugar and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee! This experience will turn you into a real fan of Lisbon’s traditional snacks and delicacies. Allow your taste buds to savour the delicious pastries, the “bica” and the sweet and bitter Ginjinhas that define this charming city. By the end of the tour you will become familiar with some of this city’s wonderful recipes!

    Day 9: Sunday: Lisbon: (B)
    This morning we continue a captivating city tour of Lisbon, the splendid capital of Portugal. it is a treasure trove of history and architecture wonders and a foodie’s mecca. Despite its size and stature, Lisbon has managed to preserve old-world charm and relaxed southern pace. We visit the Jeronimos Monastery. It is the monastery with a striking example of Manueline style. This monumental structure is a testiment to the Portuguese discoveries. Within it we will have the opportunity to pay our respects at the final resting places of two illustrious figures in Portuguese history, the tomb of Vasco da Gama and Luis de Camões. We continue our journey and visit the iconic Tower of Belem a strategically positioned fortress constructed between 1514 and 1520 on the northern bank of the Tagus River. This architectural gem, commissioned by King Manuel I, was built to safeguard the entrance to Lisbon's harbor, and it remains one of the most impressive symbols. Nearby we will also see the Monument to the Discoveries, a tribute originally erected in 1941 during the Portuguese World Exhibition. This monument celebrates the pivotal figures who played essential roles in Portugal's age of exploration. This afternoon, you'll have leisure time to explore Lisbon at your own pace, perhaps indulging in some local cuisine or simply soaking in the city's enchanting atmosphere.

    Day 10: Monday: Lisbon – Sintra – Cabo Da Roca – Cascais – Estoril – Lisbon: (B)
    Today we drive Lisbon’s coast. An absolute must! Our first stop is in Sintra, an UNAESCO World Heritage site known as "Lord Byron's Glorious Eden". Throughout history, Sintra has served as a refuge for the Romans, Mors and Portuguese monarchs, drawn to it strategic location, breathtaking landscapes, lush forests and rejuvenating freshwater springs. The Cape Roca stands proudly as the westernmost point of continental Europe, a place immortalized by Luís de Camões as the spot "where the land ends and the sea begins." It's a natural beauty, offering a unique and awe-inspiring landscape where the sea asserts its presence with grandeur. You'll find the enduring legacy of the third oldest lighthouse still operational along Portugal's coastline. We continue onto Cascais, a once humble fishing village that since the 19th century has blossomed and is now affectionately known as the "Portuguese Riviera". There are some noteworthy monuments of interest, mainly related to the maritime defence. Among them are the historic Fort of Guincho and the Fort of Santo António da Barra. Estoril boasts an exquisite seaside leisure area, featuring pristine sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters that are a true delight. Additionally, there is Casino Estoril, one of Europe's premier gaming establishments, renowned for its entertainment offerings. This casino is a magnet for professionals of the game or just curious people trying their luck.

    Day 11: Tuesday: Lisbon – Douro Valley: (B)
    Meet our private driver at your hotel and transfer to the Douro Valley. (3hrs 50mins approx) On arrival at the hotel, check in and enjoy a free afternoon at leisure.

    Day 12: Wednesday: Douro Valley: (B)
    Today we embark on our tour of the Douro Valley, a place that could easily be described as the "enchanted valley" due to its beauty and magic it bestows upon its landscapes. From Porto, where the river gracefully meets the sea, and where on its undulating hillsides are famous Douro winery’s where table wines and port wines are crafted, this remarkable region has earned its place as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its grandeur can be experienced by road, train, cruise boat, or even from the lofty vantage point of a helicopter. Its truly spectacular. As we follow a route to the finest viewpoints, we'll traverse the river from north to south and back again. Along this captivating journey, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas overlooking the river and have the opportunity to explore the vineyards, towns, and villages that grace this remarkable region.

    Day 13: Thursday: Douro Valley – Porto: (B)
    Meet your private driver at your hotel and drive to Porto. (1hr 45mins approx) On arrival at the hotel, check in and enjoy a free afternoon at leisure.

    Day 14: Friday: Porto: (B/D)
    The city of Porto is famously referred to as the City "Invicta". and holds the distinction of being the namesake of Portugal. It is a city known worldwide for its wine, iconic bridges and a blend of ancient and contemporary architecture marvels. Its historical center is listed as World Heritage UNESCO Site. Its adorned with magnificent monuments and historical buildings such as the imposing Cathedral and the elegant Tower of Clerics.
    On the opposite bank of the river, Vila Nova de Gaia, offers stunning views of the world-famous Port Wine Cellars epicenter of Port wine production. Here wine is blended and aged and where you can taste the different varieties, Later we will savour the tastes of Portugal at our farewell dinner at a special Restaurant.

    Day 15: Saturday: Depart Porto
    Our tour concludes after breakfast

    At your leisure before transferring to the airport, port or train station for your onward or homebound journey.
